Multibanco is a popular offline payment method in the Portuguese market, allowing customers to pay for online orders via ATM or through their online banking account. The customer completes the payment using:
  • ATM machines
  • Online banking
  • Mobile banking applications

Voucher Expiration

The payment voucher remains valid for 17 hours and is automatically cancelled afterward if the payment is not completed.

Customer Flow

  1. After filling in their personal details, the customer selects Multibanco as the payment method.
  2. The customer receives an order confirmation along with a payment reference containing the following details:
    • Entity – beneficiary identifier (5 digits)
    • Reference – payment reference code (9 digits)
    • Amount – payment amount
  3. Once the payment is completed, the Global-e system receives a payment confirmation and advances the order status.
