# Use Cases

## Use Case 1: Shopify-Driven Allocation (Pre-Checkout)

All warehouses are configured in Shopify with accurate inventory levels, enabling allocation decisions to be made during checkout.

* Allocation decisions are made during checkout
* Orders are split into multiple hub locations within Shopify
* Reflected as mixed orders in Global-e

## Use Case 2: Global-e Allocation (Post-Order Creation)

Shopify has limited visibility into warehouse inventory, so allocation decisions are made after the order is created.

* Allocation decisions occur after order creation
* Shopify does not split the order
* Global-e splits the order during fulfillment

## Use Case 3: Hybrid Allocation

* Initial allocation is made at checkout
* Allocation may be adjusted later during fulfillment
